It’s been a busy week getting organised for the Assembly this week. Thank you to all that were able to attend and support in various ways. The students did a wonderful job, they were responsible with learning their parts and knowing when they needed to take on different roles.

In Maths this week, the students have been diving deep into the concept of place value by representing numbers on a numberlines, comparing and ordering numbers, understanding place value of decimals, ordering and comparing decimals.

In Literacy we are continuing to look at parts of sentences by reviewing punctuation (full stop, exclamation point, question mark, quotation mark, and comma) as well as how to use conjunctions (and, but, or, so, because, yet, nor, for, although, however, consequently, therefore) to connect ideas better. Students also completed a writing assessment.

In UOI this week students applied their thinking skills as they sorted reasons for migration into different categories such as: choice and no choice, push (what pushes someone out of a place) and pull factors (what draws someone closer to a place). Students also focused on getting things organised and learning lines for the assembly

Starting next week on Sunday, students will be leaving their ipads at school. We request your support in returning ipad chargers to school. If ipads are needed at home please let us know and we will be happy to send them home. We just request that you support your child with charging and returning ipads to school.

As part of unit of inquiry about how ‘Human Migration is a response to risks, challenges and opportunities’, we would also love to invite parents or family members to share a personal migration journey with our students. If you are interested, please let us know so we can arrange a suitable time.
