Dear Secondary Families,

One of the highlights of the past few weeks has been seeing the enthusiasm of our students to take on leadership roles within the Secondary School. Developing student leadership has always been an important part of life at ABIS, and I have been delighted to see this continue to grow this year.

Our Secondary Student Council has always played an active role in shaping school life, and it has been fantastic to see membership grow to impressive numbers. Alongside this, we have introduced a much more structured leadership model, with the appointment of House Captains & Sports Captains. This week, we have also begun interviewing our Grade 12 students for the prestigious positions of Head Boy and Head Girl. Next week, we will be appointing our Chair and Vice Chair for the Student Council.

Student leadership is about much more than holding a title. It is about giving young people the opportunity to develop confidence, responsibility, teamwork and communication skills, while also ensuring that students have a genuine voice in the continued development of our school. Leadership provides opportunities for students to organise events, represent their peers, contribute ideas and make a positive difference to our school community. These are experiences that will serve them well, not only during their time at ABIS, but also as they move on to university, employment and life beyond school.

I have been incredibly impressed by the number of students who have volunteered to step forward into these roles. Their willingness to contribute, support others and help shape our school community reflects the values we strive to develop in every ABIS student.

Parent Coffee Morning and Workshop

On Tuesday, 15th September, we look forward to welcoming parents to our next Parent Coffee Morning. Mr. Matthew, our Primary Principal, and I will begin the morning with an opportunity to connect informally with parents.

This will be followed by a workshop led by our school counsellors, Ms. Maitha and Ms. Sharouq, focusing on how a consistent daily routine can help shape a child’s wellbeing, learning, and behaviour. This is an important and very practical area for families, and we hope that many of you will be able to join us.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Warm Regards,

Andy Cooper

Secondary Principal
