Our second week has passed quickly and already we are starting to get more work and learning done. Students are still getting to know each other, our new space and ways of working together.
It was our first week swimming so well done to everyone who remembered their swimming kit! They did well changing by themselves, then organising their things and were very excited to be in the pool again!
In English we have been listening and following instructions, doing phonics with the vowels and blending to write words. We made a word list about ourselves and started to write sentences using this vocabulary list. We listened to several stories, asked questions, shared our ideas and talked about why we liked the stories. In Maths, we looked at and interpreted a graph then started our own research about our class friends. Everyone had a checklist and recorded information which they then put on a graph. We had a set graph grid as we are practising and will start to make our own graphs next week. We also did some Mental Maths and number sequences.
We are all learning our friend’s names and everyone seems to know their specialist teachers and Arabic groups- they are helping new students with this. We talked about how our class room should “look and sound”- what we should be doing, saying or seeing in our class and students have done drawing or writing. We also continue to talk about the IB Learner profile and this week we think about who has been caring- children will choose a caring friend and make them a special note to say thank you. If some children are not selected we all think and find something kind to say about them too. It is important that children are caring but also recognise when other people are kind to them.
