Dear Secondary Families,
Welcome back! It has been wonderful to welcome our students back to school and to see ABIS full of energy once again. We have also been delighted to welcome a number of new students and teachers to our community, and I know they will quickly become part of the ABIS family.
I have been extremely pleased with the start to the academic year. Students have settled quickly into their new routines, lessons have been purposeful and engaging, and there has been a really positive atmosphere around the school. It has also been great to see students reconnecting with friends and welcoming new classmates into our community.
The first week of school is always an important one. Alongside beginning the curriculum, it provides an opportunity for teachers and students to build positive relationships, establish high expectations and create classrooms where everyone feels supported and ready to learn. Thank you to our students for the mature way they have approached the start of the year and to our staff for all of the hard work that has gone into ensuring such a smooth start.
I look forward to meeting many of you at our Secondary Parent Information Evening next week on Tuesday 1st September, 5:00–6:30 pm. DP Parents upstairs in LC3. MYP Parents upstairs in LC2. Teachers will be available throughout the evening in LC2 Atrium.

This is a fantastic opportunity to:
- Meet your child’s Advisor and subject teachers.
- Learn more about the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).
- Understand how we support students both academically and socially.
- Find out how you can help your child have a successful year.
- Ask questions and build relationships with the staff who work with your child every day.
Whether your child is new to ABIS or has been with us for several years, this evening is an excellent opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school and ensure your child gets the very best start to the academic year.
Next week we will be sending out the sign up sheets for our After School Activities ASA’s. These will be running from 3.00 – 4.00 pm every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, starting on Sunday 8th September. Please take some time to look at the options and where possible, encourage your child to take advantage of the activities.
