This week in UOI we have completed our kaleidoscopes and are instructions on how to make one. We have explored light by seeing what happens within a dark space using mirrors and prisms. We have observed how light travels and drawn a diagram of this concept in our UOI books. We asked some questions: How can we use a torch to light the dark? Can we use it to make shadows?

In maths this week we explored a variety of ways probability affects our lives, for instance, taking a chance that we’ll have pizza for dinner or pull a green marble out of a bag. We have played a games to see what our chances are of winning the game.

For literacy, we have read books together and have discussed our observations about books. We have worked on using spelling patterns to spell new words and practised what we know by writing our instructions for making a kaleidoscope.

The students enjoyed a morning in the pool yesterday and the games we played after lunch. Thank you so much for all your contributions of food and drink which they enjoyed yesterday and today.

This morning a few students also received certificates from the most recent English, Maths and Science Olympiad.
