Dear Secondary Parents,
As we approach the end of another successful academic year, I would like to take this opportunity to share some exciting news.
ABIS Games
Next week marks the launch of our very first ABIS Games, an event that has been entirely planned, designed, and organised by our MYP students. Throughout Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, students will be working in their grade levels to help prepare for the event on Wednesday. They will be learning and making connections between different subjects and planning for the final event.
Invitation to Parents – Wednesday Morning
We would be delighted to welcome parents to join us on Wednesday morning, 8.30 – 11.40 am
- Please arrive at the school gate at 8:30am.
- Students will be there to welcome and guide you throughout the event.
- Parents will have the opportunity to visit the different grade levels and see what students have created and prepared.
- Following the tour, families will be invited to participate in a range of activities and games in the Sports Hall.
If you would like to take part in the physical activities, we recommend attending in comfortable sports attire. This promises to be a fantastic opportunity to see student learning in action and to celebrate the creativity, collaboration, and leadership demonstrated by our learners.
End-of-Year Assembly
Following the ABIS Games, we warmly invite all parents to attend our End-of-Year Assembly in the Mazoon from 11:40am–12:20pm.
This assembly provides an opportunity for us to come together as a whole school community to celebrate the year. Students from across the school will showcase a variety of performances and contributions as we recognise the many achievements and memorable moments of the academic year.
End-of-Year Reports
End of Year Reports will be released to families on Wednesday at the end of the school day. These reports provide a summary of your child’s learning throughout the year and include final grades for each subject area. They are intended to celebrate achievements, recognise progress, and identify areas for future development.
Moving up Day
One of the highlights of this week was welcoming students into the next stage of their educational journey through our transition experiences. It was a real pleasure to welcome our Grade 6 students into the Secondary School for the day. They spent time with current secondary students, met many of the teachers who will be teaching them next year, and experienced a range of sample MYP lessons. The feedback from staff was overwhelmingly positive, with teachers commenting on the students’ excellent behaviour, enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to engage. Having seen them in action, there is already a great sense of excitement about welcoming them into the MYP next year.
Similarly, our Grade 10 students had the opportunity to experience life in the Diploma Programme by spending the day with our current Grade 11 students and meeting many of their future DP teachers. This provided valuable insight into the expectations, opportunities, and challenges of the programme, and helped students begin preparing for the next stage of their academic journey.
