Dear Parents,
I would like to begin by congratulating all of the students who performed in last night’s Summer Concert. It was a wonderful evening and a fantastic opportunity to bring our school community together. The students demonstrated tremendous courage, commitment and enthusiasm as they took to the stage, embodying our school values of challenging themselves, involving themselves and always striving to be their best.
Events such as these remind us that education extends far beyond the classroom. While academic achievement remains an important focus, it is equally important that students have opportunities to develop their creativity, confidence and passion through the arts. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Mr Camillo and the Music Department for the countless hours of preparation that go into making an event like this possible. I would also like to thank our IT Department for their support in preparing and running the event so smoothly.
This evening, I am very much looking forward to celebrating with our Grade 12 students at their Graduation Ceremony at the Radisson Hotel. Graduation is always one of the highlights of the school year and represents the culmination of many years of hard work, perseverance and growth. Our students have worked incredibly hard to reach this point, navigating the challenges and opportunities presented by the IB Diploma Programme while developing the skills, knowledge and character that will support them in their future endeavours. We are immensely proud of everything they have achieved and look forward to celebrating their successes alongside their families. It is also important for our younger students to see what can be accomplished through dedication and commitment, as they continue their own journeys through the IB programmes. We wish all of our graduates every success and happiness as they take their next steps beyond ABIS.
This week also provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate another important milestone as our Grade 6 students graduated from the Primary Years Programme. It was a pleasure to attend the Graduation Ceremony and witness the immense pride shown by both students and parents. The event was a fitting celebration of all that our students have achieved during their time in the Primary School and an opportunity to reflect on how far they have come in their learning journey.
We are now turning our attention to supporting these students as they prepare for their transition into Secondary School and the Middle Years Programme. I visited the Grade 6 students today to speak with them about their upcoming ‘Moving Up Day’ on Tuesday next week. This experience will allow them to spend time in the Secondary School, meet many of their future teachers, work alongside older students and gain a better understanding of what life in the MYP will be like. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions and hear directly from current Grade 7 and Grade 8 students about their experiences. We are very much looking forward to welcoming them into the Secondary School community and supporting them through this exciting next stage of their education. Grade 10 students will also have their ‘Moving Up Day’ into the Diploma Progamme.
As we approach the final weeks of the academic year, there is much to celebrate. For the final week of school, we will be holding our first ever ABIS Games in the Secondary school. We have been providing students with small bits of information to keep them guessing! More details to follow next week.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership in your children’s education.
Warm regards,
Andy Cooper
