Dear Secondary Families,
As we move into the final few weeks of the school year, there is a real sense of reflection, achievement and anticipation across the Secondary School. While students have been completing their examinations and assessments, there has also been a growing focus on transition and preparation for the next stage of their learning journey.
Over the past few weeks, our Grade 10 students have been taking part in a number of experiences designed to help familiarise them with the Diploma Programme. These opportunities have provided students with valuable insight into the expectations, approaches to learning and style of study within the DP, helping them feel increasingly confident and prepared for the exciting step ahead.
At the same time, we are also looking forward to welcoming our current Grade 6 students as they begin their own transition into Secondary School. We are looking forward to welcoming them to our ‘Moving Up Day’ on Tuesday 4th June. Opportunities for students to visit, experience lessons and become familiar with the Secondary environment are an important part of ensuring that students feel comfortable, confident and excited about joining the next phase of their education. Transition is always an important time for students and families, and we are proud of the care and support that our staff provide throughout this process.
This time of year also reminds us how quickly the school year has passed. It has been wonderful to see the growth, resilience and achievements of our students across academics, activities, service and the wider life of the school community. The final weeks ahead remain busy, but they are also an opportunity to celebrate progress and look ahead positively to the future.
Looking ahead – We look forward to welcoming all parents to our Secondary Summer Concert on Wednesday 3rd June from 5.00 – 6.30 pm. The students and music team have been working very hard to provide a great concert!
Please note that next week will be a shortened school week, with school closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for the Eid holidays. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families a peaceful and enjoyable break with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming students back refreshed for the final stretch of the academic year.
Warm Regards
Andrew Cooper
