Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming the parents of our Grade 1 students into the classroom, and what a special moment it was!

As part of our Unit “How We Express Ourselves”, the students have spent the past few weeks exploring what makes a good story. Together, we discussed the different story elements needed to bring a story to life, such as characters, setting, problem, and solution. By listening to a variety of books, analyzing stories together, and using role play to develop ideas, the students first created a story map as the starting point for their own book.

From there, the real writing process began: brainstorming, writing, rewriting, editing, and expanding their ideas. Step by step, their thoughts and creativity grew into wonderful stories that they proudly presented today to their audience: you, the parents.

As a teacher, I am incredibly proud of the growth I have witnessed throughout this process, not only in their writing skills, but also in their confidence, creativity, and perseverance. It was truly heartwarming to see the students so excited to share their stories.

A heartfelt thank you to all the parents for your presence and support. It was wonderful to have you in our classroom and to celebrate this beautiful learning journey together!

Warm regards,

Ms Guinee
