This week our main focus has been around writing our TED Talks. Students have been working through a plan that outlines a strong hook, connection to audience, personal story, using data and facts to support their topic, identifying the status quo, better future, saying how we can take action and bringing it all together to a strong ending. Students will be coming home with their TED Talks this week to help them set up for performance and practicing their speeches next week.

These are some of the revision elements we have been looking at.

We are slowly starting to unpack numerical patterns in maths. For literacy this week, we have been reflecting on our most memorable memories from the year.

As we near the end of the year we ask for your support in maintaining as many regular routines and schedules as possible for good sleep, healthy nourishment and reminders for belongings and preparedness for school so we can continue to be successful during the day.

Next Week:

Literacy & UOI:

  • Practicing our communication skills
  • Analysing our communication skills
  • Learning scripts
  • Giving feedback and revising our performance

Math:

  • Identifying patterns
  • Using decimals and fractions in patterns
  • Beginning to understand algebraic equations
  • Identifying variables in equations

Ministry Exams

Tuesday May 19th 8:20 – 10:00am Arabic Exam

Thursday May 21st 8:20 – 10:00am Islamic Studies Exam

MOST IMPORTANT DATE

Grade 6 Graduation = Tuesday 2nd June – 8.15am to 9am in the Mazoon.

PLEASE put this date in your calendar and ensure that you can attend. We have put it early in the day so that families can attend before going to work. Last year all students had at least one family member to witness their graduation, we would very much like for the same level of parent attendance this year too!

Have a great weekend,

Grade 6 Team
