Dear Parents,
Week one of MYP eAssessments is done, and we are incredibly proud of our students. They have already sat English, French, Integrated Humanities, and Maths, and while it has certainly been a stressful week, it has also been a strong and encouraging start.
Much like during the mock examinations, students were punctual, prepared, and showed a very positive attitude going into each assessment. That mindset alone makes a real difference, and it has been wonderful to see them rise to the challenge.
A small but important reflection from this period relates to the use of AI and academic integrity. As educators, one of our key responsibilities is to ensure that students develop their own thinking, voice, and skills. While technology, including AI, can be a powerful support tool, assessments like these require students to rely on their own knowledge and abilities.
This is why, at times, our classroom practice may feel a little more “old school” than expected. Writing by hand, practising without digital support, and working through ideas independently are not steps backwards, they are essential preparation. The format of these assessments, and indeed many future academic contexts, still require students to think, organise, and produce work on their own.
Ultimately, students are being prepared for the pathway they are on, the IB programme, external examinations, and the expectations of university and beyond. Our goal is to ensure they are not only successful in these moments, but also confident and capable in the long term.
A very strong start to the assessment period, and we look forward to seeing them continue with the same focus and determination.
Warm wishes,
Miss J
