This week, our class explored creativity and imagination through a fun and engaging art experience. I introduced the children to a rainbow-coloured spiral and invited them to imagine it as a magical place called Twirly Whirly Rainbow World. This sparked lots of curiosity and excitement about the world.
To extend their thinking, I showed the children simple paper puppets that had no colour or faces. We discussed how these characters live in Twirly Whirly Rainbow World but were feeling sad because they were plain and wanted to be bright and colourful.
The students were then encouraged to design and create their own puppets to live in this imaginative world. They carefully added colours, faces, and unique features, bringing their characters to life. It was wonderful to see their creativity shine as they made decisions about how their puppets would look and who they would be.
Throughout the activity, students developed their fine motor skills, engaged in imaginative play, and expressed their ideas confidently. Many children also enjoyed sharing stories about their puppets, including where they live, what they like to do, and who their friends are.
We are so proud of the students for their enthusiasm and creativity this week!
