Dear Secondary Families,

This week provided a great example of what it means to be an IB continuum school, where learning is not confined to individual grade levels but can be meaningfully connected across different stages of a student’s journey.

Earlier in the year, Mr. Theo and Ms. Peters identified a natural link between the Grade 7 Integrated Humanities unit on Sustainable Environments and the work being studied by our Grade 11 ESS students. This presented an excellent opportunity to bring the MYP and DP together in a purposeful and authentic way.

This week, that idea came to life. A group of Grade 11 students led an introduction to Tropical Rainforests for our Grade 7 students, taking on the responsibility of teaching and supporting younger learners. It was particularly pleasing to see how they adapted their approach to meet the needs of the class, including providing support in both English and Arabic where needed.

Experiences such as this highlight one of the key strengths of being an IB continuum school. Students are able to see how their learning develops over time, while also benefiting from opportunities to collaborate across grade levels. For our older students, it provides valuable experience in communication, leadership, and empathy. For younger students, it offers both inspiration and a clear sense of progression.

This week also marked the start of final examinations for our Grade 12 Diploma Programme students. We wish them every success as they move through this important period. They have worked hard throughout the year to reach this point, and we are confident that they will approach their exams with focus and determination.

Looking ahead, our Grade 10 students will begin their MYP eAssessment examinations next week. In the lead-up to these exams, students have been working closely with their teachers in final preparation sessions, and we wish them every success as they begin this important stage of the MYP.

Warm regards
