This week, our Grade 1 students had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Grade 6 PYP Exhibition. It was inspiring to see how confidently the Grade 6 students shared their learning, explained their inquiries, and spoke about the action they are taking to make a difference. Our students were engaged and curious as they listened, asked questions, and explored the displays. It was a meaningful experience to see what learning can look like as students grow through the PYP journey, and it helped our class understand that inquiry is all about wondering, researching, and sharing ideas with others. Alongside this experience, we also began our new Unit of Inquiry under the transdisciplinary theme How We Organize Ourselves. To tune in, we talked about the different people who have roles in our lives and how these roles help our communities function. We will continue building on these conversations as we explore responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of community helpers and systems in our daily lives. We would love to invite parent volunteers to support our learning during this unit. If you work in a role that helps our community (for example, healthcare, education, safety, service, business, engineering, government, or any other profession), we would be grateful if you could visit our class for a short talk. This could be as simple as sharing what you do, the tools you use, and how your work helps others. If you are available, please get in touch with your child’s teacher to arrange a suitable day and time.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. We are looking forward to an exciting unit of learning ahead!
