This week, we began our new Unit of Inquiry, How We Organise Ourselves. To tune in, we explored the difference between needs and wants and discussed how our choices can look different depending on what is necessary, what is helpful, and what we simply enjoy. Students shared examples from their own lives and sorted different items and ideas into “needs” and “wants,” explaining their thinking. We also continued with our literacy centres, building our reading and writing skills through small-group activities, and in maths we began exploring simple subtraction by taking away and solving basic number sentences.
