This week in Grade 1, we deepened our exploration of Who We Are by thinking about the choices we make and how they shape our classroom community. In math and literacy centers, students rotated through hands-on tasks that built confidence in reading, writing, number sense, and problem-solving. A highlight was our subitizing challenge quickly recognizing dot patterns without counting where friendly competition had everyone cheering and explaining their thinking. We also welcomed Ms. Amina, who spoke about the vaccines students will receive this week and why they help keep our community healthy; learners asked thoughtful questions about wellness and safety. Throughout the week, we focused on the IB Learner Profile Principled discussing what it looks, sounds, and feels like in our class. Students practiced taking responsibility, making fair choices, and using respectful words and actions so that everyone feels safe, included, and ready to learn.
