A very exciting and reflective week in Grade 6 as we look back upon our Exhibition journey and consider what final things we need to do as we near the end. There is so much going on and I am sure that many children will have extra ideas and parts they can add over the weekend. Perhaps as we have the Sunday off school, some children will be able to do any ‘last minute’ jobs at home. Thank you once again for the help, support and encouragement that I know so many parents are offering their children.

Beyond creating our Exhibition stands and experiences the children have also been….

  • finishing their Exhibition Art projects (with Ms Sanaa) that symbolise their growth and reflections on Primary school life. The gallery of the art can be viewed at the end of the PYP Exhibition Finale.
  • working on a musical piece (with Mr Mino) to be performed at the end of the PYP Exhibition Finale.

Please find the details of the PYP Exhibition Finale below. It really mean so much to the students that their families and friends will be in attendance to celebrate the end of this learning journey, so please ensure that you are free to attend. Just a reminder that students will stay at school on Wednesday 26th February and will be in the G6 classroom from 3 – 5pm. We will be watching a movie and having pizza prior to the Exhibition starting. Please make sure you are outside the Mazoon a few minutes before 5pm. The first time you will see your child will be when they are presenting at their Exhibition stand.

Also, when you are attending the Exhibition, of course you will want to see your child’s Exhibition stand, but please do remember to circulate and provide an audience for the other students too. Great questions to ask children at their stands include:

  • What inspired you to choose your Exhibition?
  • What were some of the key guiding questions you followed?
  • What have been the inquiry highs / lows?
  • What is some important knowledge that you have found?
  • What are the different perspectives about your inquiry?
  • What have you learnt about yourself as a learner?
  • What do you want the audience to ‘take-away’ from your inquiry?
  • What ATL skills have you developed during the Exhibition?
  • What ATL skills might you focus on in future inquiries?
  • What advice would you give to next year’s G6 class?

Please remember that it is the process and the journey the children have gone through, that is infinitely more important than what they exhibit on Wednesday. We will just see a small insight into what they have been doing, the skills though that they have honed and developed throughout the process may not all be on display at the Exhibition, but these skills will stay with the students into Secondary and beyond. I think the 2 image below visualise my point quite well.

Have a great weekend,

Matt
