What a busy final week before the winter holiday.  All the PYP Exhibition inquiries are starting to take shape. The children have started to build a foundational base and are ready to kick on properly when we return in January.

Many children have said that they will not be traveling for (at least) part of the 3 week winter holiday and that they are interested in progressing their PYP Exhibition inquiries a little further. So, there are 3 optional areas the students can work on.

Optional Winter Holiday Activities

1) PYP Exhibition T-Shirt Design – an example was shared on Google Classroom and the children are encouraged to look at the success criteria here before starting their attempt on Canva or a similar design app.

2) Symbolic Art Project – Ms Sanaa has set up a symbolic art project for the children to undertake which will be shown as part of the PYP Exhibition. The art is meant to symbolize how they have grown and changed over their time in the PYP and Primary school. Each child has made a plan (see this week’s Seesaw) and has selected the elements of art, the materials, emotions and colours they want to use to express their message. Children can start this project over the holidays.

3) PYP Exhibition Research / Experimentation – Children can continue to answer their main questions, can develop new questions, can start to experiment / create and perhaps even visit places that connect to their inquiry. If your child is doing something interesting connected to their inquiry, please make sure that they document their work by taking notes, photos and videos.

Some photos from the afternoon of Sports Day – a nice break from the PYP Exhibition.

In January…

When we come back in January we will be focusing on filling in any knowledge gaps that still remain from our first line of inquiry. Then we will be using our thinking skills to synthesise what we have learnt so far and where we want to go next with our inquiries.
