Dear Secondary Families,

What a great finish to our first half of the academic year. December has been a busy month, but it has also been very rewarding to see all of our community coming together. Here is a summary of the recent highlights;

ABIS Community Fun Run
The ABIS week started early this week, and last Saturday saw the very first ABIS Community Fun Run take place. It was a joyous occasion, with participants ranging from our youngest KG students and their even younger siblings to many parents and even some grandparents!

The event was split into three categories: 2km, 3km, and 5km. Regardless of the distance, it was wonderful to see so many smiles as runners and walkers made their way around the campus and running track. The weather was perfect, the atmosphere tremendously supportive, and the event had such a positive vibe.

I would like to extend a huge thank you and congratulations to all who participated or supported in any way. A special mention goes to Ms. Dorothy, who was the driving force behind this event and shared the initial concept. Let’s hope it’s the first of many such events!

Secondary Sports Day
On Wednesday, we held our annual Secondary Sports Day, which proved to be another huge success. After weeks of preparation during PE classes with Mr. Fernando, Ms. Dorothy, and Myself, the students were ready to give their best for their respective house teams.

The day started with students participating in the Athletic Field Events and Middle Distance Running. This was followed by Team Games in basketball, volleyball, football and capture the flag. In the afternoon, it was wonderful to see the whole school together to watch the secondary students perform their races in the 100m, 200m and 400m. We concluded the two days of Primary and Secondary Sports Days by running a relay with students from Grades 3-12! Thank you to everyone who helped to organise and run the events and thank you to all those who were able to come and support the event.

Save the Date: International Night

We are thrilled to announce the return of International Night, a celebration of the diverse cultures in our community. The Parent Committee and Student Councils are working together to organize this exciting event, which will feature:

  • Delicious food from various cultures.

Families with a long-standing history at ABIS will remember this as an annual tradition. We are excited to reintroduce it this year and hope it becomes a regular highlight of our school calendar once again.

Reminders:

  • Thursday 23rd January: Semester 1 Reports issued.
