Good afternoon,

We began the week with an exciting start on Sunday morning with the Early Years Fun Run. The children had a great time burning off energy as they ran and walked laps around the track. The additional presence of KG2 and G1 students made it feel like more of a special event. This weekend, the week of morning Fun Runs wraps up with a family event. We hope to see many of you on campus on Saturday morning. It should be a lovely chance to enjoy the lovely weather, breathe in the fresh air, and share some fun family time walking or running laps together!

A quick reminder about Sports Day for KG1 which will be held alongside the Primary Sports Day on Tuesday, 17th December. The exciting events, planned by our PE team, will run from 8:20 am to 12:15 pm. Please be sure to drop your child off in our classroom by 8am, so that we can walk together as a class with them to the sports field. We will bring along their water bottles and snack boxes, and there will be extra water and shaded areas to rest when needed. Parents are warmly invited to come along and cheer for the children. They have been practising during PE lessons (as you can see in the photographs below), and we are looking forward to a fun and energetic day!

This week, as part of our unit of inquiry, we continued to explore the idea of perspective. The children looked at various artworks and shared their feelings and opinions about them. We noticed that not everyone liked or disliked the same things, and we agreed that this is perfectly fine. In fact, having different responses to art makes the world a much more interesting place. One way we looked at how people can experience the same art in different ways was by focusing on the music Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy, by composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. First, we listened to an orchestra performance and talked about how the music made us feel and what it made us think about. Then, we watched an interpretation of the same music by the Royal Ballet in London. Finally, we watched DoodleChaos’ animated version, Dance of the Line Riders. It was very interesting to see how one piece of music could inspire such different ideas and feelings.

A final reminder that next week is the final week before the winter break. We wish you a lovely weekend. Kind regards,

Kristina, Buthaina and Rahma
