As the first term is finishing, we look back on everything we have achieved. Teachers give a written report but we also encourage the children to think about how they have grown and changed. Students had a self- reflection sheet this week and had to rate themselves as displaying the skills of sharing, listening etc.
I was impressed that many students showed good and honest self- awareness. The different faces were intended to show the level of doing the skill- a smiley face means I ALWAYS share, the middle face means I SOMETIMES share and the sad face is self-explanatory.
Several students have been showing collaboration doing tasks around the classroom and often surprise me by inventing their own learning activity. The attached video shows a group counting all the pages in a book which they did by themselves. Then, they had the rest of the class joining in too.
Over the past two weeks, students have also been committed to learning Jolly Phonic songs, doing actions, lining up and going on and off stage in preparation for our part in the Assembly this week. They worked in groups, made a hat, cut out and decorated letters so there has been much ‘behind the scenes’ work! This is a lovely way for the class to learn together and collaborate with the other Grade One classes. I hope you agree they have done well!
I know we all need a holiday but I feel sure that we are tired because we have been working hard, doing our best, facing new challenges and learning TOGETHER!
Happy Holiday Super 1A students.
Best wishes to you and your family
