Weekly Pictures Here
What an exciting week we had. Sunday and Monday were normal days, but it took a left turn into online learning. I would like to thank everyone who assisted their children or attempted to get their children online. Yes, there were some hiccups, however the end result was great. The students were involved, listening, and participating. Please remember that when we do have a rainy day the students are expected to join their online classes and complete their assigned activities.
The class has begun working on their Acrostic Poems using their names. It is so great seeing the students write sentences about themselves. I can’t wait until the final draft is complete and they can share it on SeeSaw. During this Unit of Inquiry the students will be creating Acrostic Poems, Haiku Poems, and Limericks (funny rhyming poems). We completed our How We Organize Ourselves provocation and the students shared on SeeSaw their Wonder questions with you. I hope you asked them about it. They will happily tell you all about taking pictures of the school. Next we will look at maps of Oman and the other countries the students represent. Making connections to where students come from creates a sense of pride and self-confidence.
For math we will be looking at Shapes and Space focusing on coordinate maps. Phrases we will use are prepositions. Preposition examples are; on, in, under, on top of, next to, in front of, behind, and between. We will also be working on adding numbers up to 100. Please feel free to practice these items with your children at home.
Please have the students reading every night for 20 minutes. It is very important they read in English to help them develop their English reading skills.
