Dear ABIS Community,

Service As Action is an essential part of the MYP. It allows the students to demonstrate a personal commitment to service, and act to make a positive difference to the lives of others and to the environment. As an IB school, it is our responsibility to provide the students with opportunities to give back to the communities around them as well as to encourage them to take initiatives to make the changes they want to see in the world. As an IB school, we value service with others as an important way to engage in principled action across a range of overlapping local and global communities. Service as Action then enables young people to develop the kinds of attributes described by the learner profile that are essential for success in future academic pursuits and for adult life.

MYP students have started thinking about ideas of activities and experiences that would enable them to help others and learn or develop new skills in the process.

Dear Parents and Guardians, do not hesitate to ask the students about their ideas, how they can make this world a better place while developing existing or new skills. Do not hesitate as well to discuss with them ideas you might have which could trigger initiatives. Finally, do not hesitate to contact me with any relevant ideas on how, we ABIS, could contribute even more to the communities around us.

Thank you,

Marie Perin – Service as Action/ CAS Coordinator
