Dear Secondary Families
As an International Baccalaureate School, we are always looking for ways to promote and encourage all members of our school community to have a voice. Agency is embedded in our pedagogy and is term that our students are very familiar with. It encompasses the capacity for students to take ownership of their learning through having a voice and choice about their learning. Our school student council plays a crucial role in representing the student body and fostering a sense of community within the school. It serves as a platform for student voices to be heard, enabling them to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their education and school environment. Members from each of the secondary grades are represented and they meet regularly to plan various events, fundraisers, and initiatives. We are very grateful to those who volunteer, including some of our staff members. It offers students valuable leadership opportunities, teaching them essential skills in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. They work closely with the school administration and are currently looking at ways to also work with our parent community.
We are very grateful for the parents and other members of our school community who meet as the Parent Teacher Committee (PTC). Also to those parents who attend our Information Evenings, Parent Teacher Conferences and Community Events. Next week we will be starting our monthly ‘Coffee Mornings’. These provide a relaxed setting for our parents to meet with our Team Leaders to ask questions, and share concerns and ideas, promoting transparency and collaboration. During this time, we will have an opportunity to look at possible parent workshops in the future. We will meet on Tuesday 24th from 8.00 – 9.00 am in the LC3 Atrium. This will be open to both Primary and Secondary Parents.
Have a lovely long weekend.
