We enjoyed another week in second grade. This week we had our first show and tell. It was very exciting to see what they brought in to share with their classmates. Next week Monday, we will choose our next two students for Thursday’s show and tell. If your child would like to show the class their pet, please send a picture or video to the teacher.

September 22nd is the due date for the Shoebox Autobiography. Remember any type of box is okay. You can use a shoebox, tissue box, or cereal box. Have fun decorating your boxes!

This week your children were busy. They have been working on their handwriting, listening and speaking, and thinking about math. We completed the picture book Freefall and started Grammar Tales read aloud. The first of the series focuses on nouns. Ask your children, what is a noun? If they need some help to remember, just remind them a noun is a person, place, or thing. Next week we will continue to look at nouns, work on handwriting, and look at equal groups and tally marks in math. For our Unit of Inquiry, Who We Are we will continue to look at identity and culture. Self-identity is important as well as the culture of our communities we live in.

Thursday is Library Day at 11:00 am. Remind your child to bring their book or books on Thursday to exchange for a new one.

Mondays are our swimming days. Please make sure your children bring a towel to school as well as swimsuit, goggles, swim cap, and flip flops.

Have a wonderful three day weekend and when we return it is a swimming day!!
