Dear Parents,

The first week of school has flown by in G6. It has been a week of getting to know each other and starting to build our fun, inclusive and engaging class community.

On this week’s Seesaw post you will find a selection of some of what we have done this week, including our Zombie Math Challenge, our Place Value ‘trash’ game, our ‘Happiness is…’ and a small ‘two stars and a wish’ reflection of the first few days.

Below are a selection of photos from our first week.

For our year long Who We Are unit our central idea is ‘Many factors cause us to grow as indiviuals and as a community.’ The following questions have been explored this week and may be fun dinner time conversations perhaps for your family. What is happiness? How do we measure happiness? How can we become happier? What does happiness feel and look like?

Next Week:

We will be inquiring into our own social, physical and mental health; as well as formulating personal targets and goals for each of these areas. We will also be starting our mini writing unit into creating powerful sentences. In maths we will continue to explore number sense and the idea that ‘Understanding the power of numbers enables us to make informed decisions and solve real-life challenges’.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you on the Parent Night on the 4th September from 5 to 6.30pm.

Have a great weekend,

Matt
