Transdisciplinary (Literacy + UoI) Summary
This week, students used Michael Jackson’s Thriller as a touchstone text or exemplar to examine themes, which culminated in a write-long in reading. Students revised and edited the missing, weaker, or not-quite-complete parts of their graphic novels in writing.
As year-end data collection through assessments was an emphasis this week, we had only one productive Unit of Inquiry session. In that session, students (re)examined land-based biomes by describing them, finding connections between plants, animals, and climate change, and then choosing the one that matched up best for their case study.
Numeracy Summary
This week, students really focused on the vocabulary or command terms in written expressions or word problems in order to transform them into numerical expressions in numeracy. Please be reminded that Glen and I have wrapped up our teaching for this unit, which means that there will be an assessment on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
The entire G6 learning community has completely transitioned to using Google Classroom as the main platform for teaching and learning. Students engage daily with materials, quizzes, assignments, and increased expectations. Invitations were previously sent out, which means that you are most welcome to accept a digital invitation. Additionally, please note the importance of maintaining literacy and numeracy skills since we are all headed into a well-deserved break over summer.
