Throughout our recent lessons, we’ve been exploring 3D shapes, unveiling a new shape each week, and investigating the 2D shapes within them. This week, our focus was on the rectangular prism. Students had a hands-on experience crafting their rectangular prism-shaped monsters, fostering their understanding through tactile engagement. Additionally, they utilized various shape blocks and manipulatives to solidify their conceptual grasp further.
Our learning journey took an exciting turn when we incorporated literature into our lessons. We delved into the world of shapes through the book ‘Mouse Shapes,’ where the mice creatively used shapes to build pictures. This interactive reading session sparked the students’ imagination, and they were eager to try crafting their shape pictures. This activity not only enhanced their comprehension but also encouraged imaginative expression.
