Dear Primary Families,

What a week?! Clearly this week did not go as expected and it is so very unfortunate that our plans for Oman Week were not able to go ahead as we had originally hoped. Looking at photos and videos from the region gave an indication of the scale of the problems caused by the rainfall and our thoughts are with those who have been affected.

Oman Week II (3rd – 7th March)

While we have had to postpone trips for this week, we have been fortunate to be able to reschedule these for the week of 3rd – 7th March. For this week we will follow the same schedule as closely as possible, meaning that if your child was due to go on a trip on Sunday this week, for example, that trip will take place on the Sunday of the revised week. This same pattern will be followed throughout the week. Homeroom teachers will be in touch in their regular communication to reconfirm details. If you have any questions about the trips, please do liaise with your child’s homeroom teacher.

International Mother Tongue Day (Wednesday 21st February)

To recognise and celebrate this day, we will be organising some in-class activities during the regular school day on Wednesday of next week. We have a variety of languages spoken by students and staff throughout the school and on this day in particular we will acknowledge and celebrate these. Your child’s homeroom teacher will be in touch to share further details but if you would like to visit your child’s class on this day to share a story in your own language, or perhaps share a game from your home country, then please do contact your child’s homeroom teacher and let them know of your interest.

Grade 6 PYP Exhibition 2024

We are excited about next week’s Grade 6 PYP Exhibition. This will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week and Grade 6 students will be sharing their presentations and learning in the Mazoon over these two days. Grade 6 parents are invited to a special showing just for them after school on Tuesday evening and parents and family from all grades are invited and welcome to come and visit the galleries at the following times:

Tuesday 20th February

10:30 – 11:30 am / 2:00 – 2:45 pm

Wednesday 21st February

8:30 – 10:00 am / 10:30 – 11:30 am

Student Led Conferences

Due to the rescheduling of our Oman Week trips, we have made the decision to postpone the Student Led Conferences until after Ramadan. These will now take place on 23rd and 24th April and further details will be shared nearer the time. As always, if you have any questions about your child’s learning, please do contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend and thank you for your continued support.

Best regards,

Matthew
