Exhibition (or Literacy + UoI) Summary
This week, students completed or nearly completed their inquiry into their topics for Exhibition projects. This included working to complete all of their research, collecting evidence of their learning, completing their essays, organizing their journals, etc. As part of our direct instruction, teachers guided students to develop self-management skills by creating or adapting a calendar: PYPX Calendar.
Next week, students will be busy learning outside of the school walls during Oman Week with one excursion and one overnight camp. In between, students will work on evaluating their learning journey by creating a display using display boards, tables, monitors, and larger spaces; as necessary.
We look forward to hosting parents and families on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM in Mazoon. We warmly invite you to attend a performance, an opening ceremony, a gallery walk of presentations, and some light refreshments.
Numeracy Summary
This week, students worked on developing their understanding of the LCM or least common multiple and GCF or greatest common factor. In a mind-blowing display of the power of mathematics, students were guided through a process to find GCFs using Euclid’s Algorithm.
Home Learning – aka Homework
This week, students (and their parents) could access Agency Centers in order to provide a chance for students to exercise their agency and to ensure that all students would not miss out on any learning due to a meeting with a mentor or anything else. As one important way to better connect school with home, please talk with your child(ren) about their project, their meeting with a mentor, the inquiry process and so on.
