Grade 7 have entered the finding out stage of their inquiry into what we can learn from different past societies and cultures. Civilizations have developed at different times and locations, bringing about changes and innovations, which continue to influence how we live today. We look forward to exploring some interesting questions. For example, how can we account for that fact that two different civilizations, at opposite sides of the world and no contact with each other, developed similar agricultural techniques or built similarly shaped structures? We will also learn more about the science of archaeology, research strategies employed by historians, and the different tools investigators of the past use to explain what the lives of our ancestors was like.
