It was a short, but productive week. We smooshed our weekly schedule into 3 days which meant some swapping around, omissions, and changes to our routine, but everyone adapted well.

A big thank you to everyone who dressed for Oman National Day on Sunday and earned House Points for their teams. Grade 5 Oman National Day PHOTOS

In language this week we had a figurative language sorting challenge to find out if we knew our onomatopoeias from our hyperboles! We also started the planning process for our narrative back stories about our Rube Goldberg machines.

In maths we started to look at how to add decimals using place value strategies, everyone was delighted that there is no maths homework this week, apparently.

In Unit of Inquiry teams are checking that they have everything they need and assigning each other tasks for who gets what… Don’t forget, this could be a great chance for you to have a clear out! Don’t forget to help your child collect anything at all that you have lying around which could be useful for them to help build their Rube Goldberg machines. Materials such as: old marble runs, old train set tracks, or racing car tracks, the inside tubes of wrapping paper, or plastic wrap or foil, stiff cardboard of any form, any type of empty bottles, toilet paper or paper towel tubes, cereal or cake-mix boxes, books, cans, dominoes, funnels, marbles, golf balls, string, buckets, cups or bowls, batteries, and magnets to name a few. All junk welcome!

Team G5 wish you all a great long weekend and we will see you on Sunday!
