Dear Parents and Students,

Another successful week of learning has come and gone. It was an exciting week; Students that have been with ABIS for three years also received their new ipads. As well as this ASA signups went live and students look forward to completing their important WIDA assessments coming up.

For Language we began our first unit of inquiry, our first reading and workshop unit on characterization.

For U.O.I. Students are beginning to really settle into routines and we are finding out more and more about each other as we work through our assessments and first unit of Inquiry ‘Who We Are.’ For this we have completed our first KWLH chart. This is where we frontload what we already know, what we Want to know, what we have Learned and How we know we have learned it. We will continue to build on this throughout the unit.

For Math, we tuned in to our inquiry on Ratios and began building our understanding of this by working through different models including applying this to ourselves to work out the ratio of students of each gender in our class before extending this out further.
