Dear Grade 5 Parents and students,

I hope that you are all well and that you are ready and excited for your child to begin our new school year on Sunday morning. To those of you who are new to ABIS, a warm welcome, to those of you returning, a warm welcome back.

My name is Miss Rachel and I am delighted to introduce myself as your child’s Grade 5 homeroom teacher for this academic year. This will be my fourth year at ABIS and I bring with me 15 years of teaching experience from four different countries. I expect students to be actively engaged in their own learning, constantly reflecting and developing skills to allow them to identify their own unique learning styles. I believe this will contribute positively to your child’s learning journey. I will be working closely with my grade level classroom assistant, Ms Salima, to ensure the most successful and enjoyable year possible.
This coming week we will be focused on building our new learning community and getting to know each other. We will be establishing our new routines and making sure everyone has the chance to personalise their own learning spaces and resources to allow for a great start to a successful year of learning.

In our classroom, we will strive to create an environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning. I believe that every child has unique strengths and areas for growth, and my goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where your child can develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

Communication is key to a successful partnership between home and school. I am committed to keeping you well-informed about your child’s progress, achievements, and any concerns that may arise throughout the year. You can expect regular updates through weekly emails and broadcaster posts. If you ever have any questions, insights, or feedback about your child’s learning, please do let me know.

I strongly believe that a strong parent-teacher relationship plays an important role in a child’s educational experience. I am looking forward to meeting you all during the upcoming Parent Information Evening. This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet, share our expectations, and discuss the exciting year ahead. Further details about this event will be shared soon.

We look forward to welcoming your child to school at 8:00 am on Sunday morning.

Best wishes,

Miss Rachel & Ms Salima
