WEEK 34

Dear Parents and Guardians of KG1,

Thank you to all the parents who attended our assembly! It was an absolute pleasure to have you there, supporting your children and celebrating their achievements. Your presence added warmth and significance to the event.

Through various engaging activities this week, such as coloring, cutting, and painting, our students learnt how to manipulate objects and enhance their hand-eye coordination. They continued to refine their fine motor skills by grasping pencils, crayons, paintbrushes and scissors, which in turn aids in their writing and drawing abilities.

Our students also engaged in hands-on activities that stimulated their numerical curiosity. Through playful games, puzzles, and interactive exercises, they learn to grasp the fundamentals of mathematics, setting the stage for a lifelong love of learning.

Students continued on a journey of language exploration, acquiring the building blocks of reading. Through storytime, phonics activities and exposure to a rich variety of texts, they develop phonemic awareness and learning that each letter in the alphabet has a sound as well as a name – these make two very different sounds. This foundational skill helps them develop strong phonological processing abilities, enabling them to recognize patterns, predict outcomes and eventually read with fluency. Phonemic awareness ignites a child’s linguistic abilities, enhancing their overall communication skills.

As always we remind and encourage our students on a daily basis to:

  • use English when talking to classmates
  • improve listening skills by following instructions in class and at home
  • share and take turns
  • be respectful and show integrity towards others
  • be kind and empathetic to peers, promoting compassion
  • include everyone in games and activities
