Dear Families,

Today you received your child’s Term 3 Progress Report. This contains Effort and Achievement ratings for all subjects, in addition to comments from Homeroom and Arabic teachers.  Please take the time to read this report with your child, talk about how school is going for them, and discuss goals for the 4th and final term of our academic year.  As always, please communicate with your child’s teachers regularly so that you understand where they are at in their learning, and ways that you can support at home.  If you did not receive your child’s report, please contact the school and ensure that your email and contact details are up to date.

We have already started processing applications for next year, and ABIS is pleased to be welcoming new students in August.  If you have friends or colleagues with school aged children, encourage them to contact the school, drop in to meet us, find out about our IB programs and have a tour.  We will be hosting an open day on Thursday, May 4 so that potential new families can experience our facilities and teaching first hand.

Next week is our final week on the Ramadan schedule.  We await the announcement from the government to determine which days the holidays will fall on.  Please note that there is definitely no school for ABIS students on April 25, 26, 27. On April 30, students will be dismissed at 3pm, and After School Activities will resume.

Looking forward:

  • Anticipating the warmer weather after Eid break, we are preparing activities for students during indoor lunches.  Students will still be encouraged so spend small amounts of time outdoors throughout the day in order to benefit from fresh air and movement, but as the temperature increases our school days are spent more indoors than out.
  • After School Activities will resume for the 4th and final round on Sunday, April 30. These will be indoor activities.  You will receive the sign up information next week via email so that you can sign up prior to the Eid break. This term there will be some activities offered to Kindergarten 2 students.
  • Primary Coffee Morning is planned for Wednesday, May 3.  The Student Support Team will present some information about managing student’s social emotional learning and dealing with transitions.
  • We will begin Primary assemblies again after the Eid break.  Mark your calendars for our Grade 5&6 Assembly on Thursday, May 4.

Ramadan Mubarak.  Enjoy your weekend.  Maeve
