Dear Families

This week, many of our secondary students were engaged in either representing our supporting our school sports teams. Last weekend we started with basketball against Future Science, followed by football against ABQ, and finally volleyball against Future Science last night. It is great to see us able to engage in these types of activities again and we look forward to many more fixtures. We now have teams for boys and girls in each of these sports and they are training regularly. We also have a new sports kit on order that has been designed by our students!

Our School Student Council organised a number of different activities this week for ‘Spirit Week’. This included dressing up in our home country colours to celebrate International Mother Tongue day. These types of events really help to highlight the amazing community that encompasses ABIS.

Our Grade 12 students are extremely busy at the moment, completing their final assessments and preparing for their final exams. We wish them well on this last leg of their journey at ABIS. Grade 10 students are also preparing for their mock exams when we return from the break.

Please plan to attend our upcoming School Wide Parent Coffee Morning. Parents from Primary and Secondary will gather for an informal get together in the Atrium of LC3 at 8am.  It’s a great morning to meet and chat with other parents and to touch base with both Ms Maeve and myself to keep up with what is happening across the school.

After the February break, you will receive an invitation to sign up for our upcoming Student Led Conferences.  These will take place on Tuesday, March 14 from 3:30 – 7pm and on Wednesday, March 15 from 1-5pm. Students will go home early (12:20pm dismissal time) on March 15 in order to accommodate these meetings.  Students will be in charge, and have already started planning their presentations. There will also be an opportunity to visit specialist learning areas and meet with our student support team if required.

Now it is time to relax and take a well earned break!

Kind regards

Andy Cooper
