In English we have completed the first unit in advertising. Students write an essay using the PEEL (make a point, give evidence, explain and then link back to the question) approach where they analyzed an advert in terms of techniques used. Our next unit is titled ‘Trying to Fit in.’ During this unit we will be investigating that theme by reading the book: ‘The Outsiders’ by S.E.Hinton.
In Individuals and Societies we are also reaching the end of our current unit. Students have been working in small groups to create a newscast about a natural disaster. This includes looking at causes, what happened and consequences. In our next unit we will be investigating different types of government (EG; monarchy, democracy, dictatorship).
