Dear Parents and Students,
Good afternoon and Happy Thursday.
Students have had a big week this week with exams for Omani Social Studies, Arabic and Islamic studies. Well done to all participating students on completing these.
With the exhibition and exams now over, today Grade 6 had a shared lunch as part of recognising their hard work, effort and accomplishments throughout the exhibition process. This evening the school will also host our community ‘Pot luck’ dinner from 6:00pm onwards. We look forward to seeing you there.
Home learning
This and next week are important weeks where students participate in learning assessment tasks as part of collecting information to triangulate data and check progress over the course of the year. Homework is therefore to continue to practise Mathematics basic facts, Reading and Spelling. Please also remember to sign your child’s homework each week. Thank you.
Reading, Writing and Inquiry
This week students began our new unit of inquiry ‘How we Express ourselves.’ This is a unit where students will investigate the different forms of Art, expression through art, the making, interpretation and appreciation of artifacts. Students have worked hard to draw artworks showing different elements of art. Students have completed work with a focus on contrast and shading making their drawings as realistic as possible. Next week we will work on the element of colour with contrasting and complimentary colours. More photos to come. Students have also continued to work on their written presentation with some beautiful work. We have some very good artists in this class 🙂
Please see photos of these art works as part of our class photo folder this week.
Mathematics
For math this week students have been working on developing a deeper understanding of concepts of number, area and perimeter. Students also worked with fractions, decimals and percentages as part of developing their number sense.

We have a number of assessments coming up as we near the end of the year and collect information to triangulate data on progress throughout the year. Students should be preparing and revising for these for their homework.
