Dear Parents and Students,
Good afternoon and Happy Thursday.
Wow, how good was the Grade 6 Exhibition. Thank you for coming along and supporting the students for their exhibition. It was awesome and I know this was a very valuable experience at the same time as providing you with an opportunity to glimpse into their world, to see what they have been up to, what they can do and to share with them how proud you are of all that they have accomplished this year so far.
Please see below for a link to Exciting photos from this week:
Home learning
During the G6 Exhibition unit, students will have personalized/ individualized homework where they are required to work on their inquiries daily and to document their learning journey in relation to this. At the same time, students will continue to practice Mathematics basic facts, Reading and Spelling. I am pleased to say that this week we had a mathematics assessment survey and all students have shown growth and progress in this. This must mean they have been practicing for their homework. Well done everyone, Please also remember to sign your child’s homework each week. Thank you.
Reading, Writing and Inquiry
This week students have continued to develop their ATL skills. In particular this week the focus has been on self management and research skills.
This week was the performance and then the reflective piece of our exhibition process. Students first presented and then reflected on the process of completing the exhibition.
As John Dewey said “
“We do not learn from experience … we learn from reflecting on experience.”
Our next unit of inquiry will begin next week. For this students will inquire into How we Express ourselves. A unit where students will investigate the different forms of Art, expression through art, the creation and interpretation of artifacts.
Mathematics
For Math this week students have continued to work on analyzing the math embedded in their unit of inquiry. For example creating pie charts about results from the surveys they sent out to collect information from other students about gaming and so on.

Notices/ Worth Repeating
We have a number of assessments coming up as we near the end of the year and collect information to triangulate data on progress throughout the year. Students should be preparing and revising for these for their homework.
Regarding Covid 19:
As you will have seen in the news, regarding health and safety protocols around Covid 19, Oman is making moves towards normalcy. We continue to maintain our high standards and our current procedures however and ask that we all remain vigilant in this respect.
As a reminder please see the points below:
- Please do not send your child to school if they are exhibiting any symptoms of Covid. Keep them home until a doctor confirms that they can safely return to school.
- Please inform the school immediately once you are aware of any confirmed covid cases in your family, or of any close contacts with confirmed or suspected cases.
- Please follow the updated Covid Management protocols which our school will be following in the event of positive or close contact cases throughout our unvaccinated primary population.
As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincere regards,
Your partners in learning.
