Dear Parents and Students,
Another busy week, welcome to the end of week 30 and the first week of our Exhibition unit.
For photos of students hard at work learning and having fun this week please see our Grade 6 Picture folder linked below.
Homework
During the unit of inquiry based around the Grade 6 Exhibition, students will have personalised/ individualised homework where they are required to work on their inquiries daily and to document their learning journey in relation to this. At the same time, students will continue to practice Mathematics basic facts, Reading and Spelling. Please also remember to sign your child’s homework each week. Thank you.
Reading, Writing and Inquiry
Central Idea:
My passion can be connected to local and global issues and the Action I take may lead to positive change.
For this we will inquire into the following;
- Students will come up with their own lines of inquiry for this unit.
- These will come next week…
Exhibition Journal: Documenting the learning journey (process and product)…
For this unit of inquiry, students are creating an electronic journal and keeping a daily log of what they have done, what they have discovered as well as their thoughts and feelings in light of this. Please do look at this and talk with your children about it. This is where you will gain insight into everything about what is happening for the Exhibition unit, especially what your child is doing in relation to this. For example, this week we have had 5 guest speakers come into our class (other teachers from within our school) to talk with the class about their interests or passions and where their interest has taken them. Mr Nicholson talked about Photography, Mr Mike talked about Music and playing the Guitar, Mr Michael talked about writing and poetry, Ms Margot talked about from farm to table sustainable practices, Mr Cooper talked about sports, Ms Magz talked about travel and other related things. These mini presentations were very interesting. Please also help out where you can and share your thoughts with your children when they are working on their Exhibition unit as we all work together to support their learning.
Thank you.
Mathematics
For mathematics this week students have worked on selecting appropriate strategies to solve multi step number problems. Students have also practised their basic facts, completed their Tessellation artwork and their 3D net design and make.

Regarding Covid 19:
As you will have seen in the news, regarding health and safety protocols around Covid 19, Oman is making moves towards normalcy. We continue to maintain our high standards and our current procedures however and ask that we all remain vigilant in this respect.
As a reminder please see the points below:
- Do not send your child to school if they are exhibiting any symptoms of Covid. Keep them home until a doctor confirms that they can safely return to school.
- Please inform the school immediately once you are aware of any confirmed covid cases in your family, or of any close contacts with confirmed or suspected cases.
- Please follow the updated Covid Management protocols which our school will be following in the event of positive or close contact cases throughout our unvaccinated primary population.
As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Wishing you all a great weekend ahead.
Sincere regards,
Your partners in learning.
