In English we have started a new unit called ‘How do I know what is right?’ Based upon the memoir ‘Red Scarf Girl’ by Ji-Li Jiang. This is based on her experience of the Cultural revolution in China. Students have explored the context of the book and created propaganda posters celebrating Mao and promoting the cultural revolution. They have seen how life can change for the worse due to politics.
In Individuals and Societies students completed an unit by creating an infographic about the population make up of a country. We are now inquiring into revolutions. Students split into groups to investigate one type of revolution (Industrial, Transport, Agricultural) and we discussed the impact of these events on the world today. Next we will be investigating political revolutions.
