“I made a new friend!” was a comment made by one of the Grade 4 girls after on Wednesday. That was the day we had 15 students come and visit us from Al Kawkaba School in Suwaiq.
Following the devastating cyclone last October, Grade 4 students wrote letters of support to the students of Al Kawkaba School, who had been affected by it. Some of our students went down with our letters, to visit them.
As part of our Oman Week celebrations we invited the Al Kawkaba students to visit us. In preparation for the visit, each ABIS student made a gift box to give a new friend. These boxes had a surprise inside! Each child had made strings of butterflies which were attached to the lid of the box. When the box was opened, the strings of butterflies were hanging down. The activity was organised by some of the class mothers. Many thanks to Margit, Machteld and Lorrine for coming in to help with the activity.
Once they arrived, our students took the visitors on a tour of the school. They visited the farm, pool, gym, track, Mazoon, library and the Oman Museum which is in LC3 at present..
The visiting students also performed a dance for us and they took part in a Music lesson.
It was a wonderful day and everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you to everyone who was involved in making the day happen.
