Students in Grade 1 GS recognized International Mother Language Day by listening to Aisha read an Arabic picture book out loud to the whole class. She definitely was a risk-taker and did a fabulous job! We were happy that Tameem and Ahmed also had Arabic books to show us. And I learned that not all of our students were born in an Arabic-speaking country: Mohammed S. spent the first years of his life in Canada!
22/2/22 was “TWOsday”! We celebrated this week with a number 2 hide and seek search in the classroom, 2-point shots in math basketball, picture reading of the book Tuesday by David Wiesner, and listening to books with iPads! The students were also excited to get back in the ABIS swimming pool this week. Practicing number bonds, making fact family number sentences, retelling stories we read, reading to ourselves, continuing or exploration of rocks by sorting them into groups, and improving our language skills by sharing special toys during Show and Tell were all mixed in with the excitement “two”!
