Grade 11 TOK students continue to engage one another in interesting and meaningful discussion on a variety of topics.  We have explored areas of knowledge through the lenses of ethics, perspectives, methods and tools, and scope.  Currently, students are examining the theme of knowledge and politics.  We began by asking the question: what are the principal aims of good governance and which forms of government are best suited to achieve these aims?  Students were introduced to theoretical models such as social contract theory and encouraged to explore the relationship between political power and society.  Most recently, we have been looking at the role of truth in politics and the importance of an informed citizenry.  It has been very powerful to hear the various viewpoints expressed in class discussions.  I greatly appreciate the willingness of the Grade 11 students to respectfully consider and reflect upon their classmates’ opinions.
