In English we have been busy investigating advertisements. We have identified different techniques used and looked at print and video adverts. Students have evaluated adverts and completed a formative assessment piece based on the Nike Advert: ‘This is Us.’ They then applied those techniques in order to create their own adverts. Next week we will be practicing essay writing techniques in order for students to be able to complete the first summative assessment task of the year.
In Individuals and Societies we are continuing our investigation into natural hazards. We have finished looking at volcanoes and earthquakes and will be studying hurricanes and tsunamis next week. After that we will look at case studies and use these as a foundation into further research into causes, consequences and responses to individual natural disasters.
