In DP Music, the students are practicing and refining their editing skills by creating an original piece using the technique of sampling. “Sampling” in Music is when you borrow a musical phrase, rhythm, or passage from an existing song and rework it into a new composition. This technique is foundational to Hip Hop and Electronic Music, but can be more versatile that just those genres. By learning this skill, the students will be able to edit, splice, and share their audio submissions for the IB and share their hard work with the ABIS community.
