This week, Grade 3 have been making connections between their learning.
Earlier in the week, we looked at a number of inventions and discussed which of these was the most and least important. We listened to and respected each other’s perspective and some people changed their opinion. One of these inventions was the camcorder.
Later in the week, while reading ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret’, the students asked how the movie theatre was playing a film. This led to a discussion about movie projectors and moving pictures, which then led to making flip books.
Whilst making the flip books, we thought about some our initial invention questions, specifically about how inventions are not successful the first time and how people need to learn from their mistakes and try again. We saw much concentration and perseverance!!
