Dear KG 2 Families,

This week we completed several learning engagements focusing on name recognition activities, the initial letter of our names and forming the letters of our names. We also worked to figure out how many letters we have in our names.

We also explored a variety of art materials, painting techniques and different tools to be used when creating. We practiced our fine motor skills- especially cutting. We expressed ourselves using a variety of playdough provocations to encourage us to “think, create and express ourselves”.

The children have been exposed to the concept of Bookmaking. We talked about the materials we use, while making books, and focused on the power of illustrations. In the coming weeks we will continue to build on our learning and focus on different illustration techniques which could be used when bookmaking. We also had class discussions about why people make books.

Throughout this week we continued to talk about our essential agreements which allowed us to focus on one of the Learner Profile attributes: being “Caring”. Next week both K2 classes will come together as a group and collaborate so we can come up with a set of essential agreements.

We hope that you have a lovely weekend.

Warm regards,

Ms Nicholson and Ms Khadija
