Hello everyone,

It was so lovely to see so many of you at the parent information evening and I hope we can continue to work in partnership to best support the students’ learning.

We have had a very busy week in our inquiries in Mathematics, Language and Unit, looking at the history of Numbers, People (Biographies) and Human Rights.

In Mathematics we completed a pre-assessment to work out what we know NOW about place value and individually reflected how well we know each learning objective. We raised so many questions that we filled an entire wall. What a great group of inquirers and an exciting start to our Inquiry! We explored the history of numbers and chose to inquire more deeply into other number systems such as ancient Egyptian, Roman, Chinese and Old English.

In Language we have been working on biographies and building our vocabulary and retelling/summarising skills. We read about people who are working to ensure rights are respected such as Harriet Tubman, Ryan Hickman, Malala Yousafzai and Greta Thunberg.

In Unit we have been inquiring in the United Nations Human Rights documents and thinking about what “rights” mean to us. We have even been “Brain Gyming” to the UNICEF kids power up videos, which give food packets to needy children around the world, every time we do 10 dances.  https://kpop.ukp.io/dashboard/kpu/?watching=50

Have a great weekend
